Inclusive Play Strengthens Community
The Treffert Way is excited to partner with the greater Fond du Lac community to create a one-of-kind playground experience embracing neurodiversity. This special space for play elevates awareness of the Treffert Approach – which provides opportunity for all children to fully reach their potential by nurturing minds & imaginations while fostering a sense of belonging.
Our vision is to transform the current vacant lot at the Treffert Way Charter School in North Fond du Lac into a state-of-the-art playground.
This space is designed to serve as an intentional space for interactive play and learning to benefit students, families, and community for years to come.
The Benefits of Neurodiversity in Community
Vibrant communities are the result of collaboration and empowering individuals to think differently – encouraging creativity, new ideas and fresh perspectives. There is unlimited potential in embracing the uniqueness of each of our brains – celebrating how that impacts how we think, see and engage with the world around us. This is the Treffert Way approach.
Diversity & inclusion
are key to progress
& vibrancy in any community.
It’s estimated that one in eight people in the world is neurodiverse.
Creative exploration & sensory play are essential for the development and advancement of all students.
“Movement and play are essential to development and learning in all children.”

“An outdoor classroom is a space for children to interact with the natural world through play-based and multi-sensory activities. Learning outdoors has huge benefits on student mental health and academic performance. Students are often calmer and better able to focus when learning in nature as well as when paired with movements.”
